Resurrection Fern (Polypodium polypodioides)

The Resurrection Fern is a tiny fern-like plant that clings to the branches and trunks of trees. It is an air plant, absorbing its nutrients from the air and water on the outside of the tree. The fern reproduces like anyother It is commonly found in the southeast, but can also be found as far north in New York, or west in Texas. The name, "Ressurection Fern" was given to the plant because of its ability to survive long periods without water. When there is no water the plant curls up appearing dead, however when there is water the plant "resurrects" and once again becomes green.
