The toothpick grasshopper (Achurum carinatum) is common in Florida.

Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Arthropoda
Class: Insecta
Order: Orthoptera
Superfamily: Acridoidea
Family: Acrididea
Genus: Pseudopomala
Species: Achurum carinatum

There are several types of toothpick grasshoppers native to Florida. As shown is a long-legged toothpick grasshopper.

Toothpick grasshoppers eat the leaves of various plants. Their body shape and green color make them incredibly camoflauge and hard for birds and other predators to spot them.
