American Wisteria (Wisteria frutescens)

American Wisteria is the only native wisteria, the rest generally comes from Asia. It ranges across the panhandle of Florida to a few scattered counties in North Florida and also throughout almost every state in the Eastern half of the U.S. It is a wetland vine that is common around the edge of forested wetlands with partial sun but can also be transplanted into drier conditions with almost full sun.
It is a deciduous plant so it loses its leaves for the winter time looking baren but then n April to early May it grows leaves blooms followed by a small string of beans containing small seeds.
